Fall in Love with a Shelter Dog or Cat!

Texas isn’t known for its Fall colors or Autumn temperatures, but Texans sure do love to play up the season! Pumpkin Spice Lattes anyone? Check. Plaid blanket scarfs? Check. “Cuddle Weather” mug? Check.

But the best thing about fall in Texas is that as the cooler weather makes its first appearances, there is nothing better than cuddling with your pets under a warm and comfy blanket, snuggled in with your “Fall Y’all!” mug of apple cider. And after the year we’ve had, you’re going to need as much furry love as possible.

So, if you don’t have a pet – Fall in Love with a shelter dog or cat from MCAS. And if you do have pets, ask yourself if you have the room and resources for another. If not, no pressure, just please consider shelter or rescue pets anytime you are searching for the next big love of your life. The one you’re going to fall head over heels for.

Dogs can be adopted for $40 and cats can be adopted for $20. Adopted dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated before they can go to their new homes.

Adoptions are by appointment only as we are still working to maintain social distances. To adopt an animal please visit our appointments page to schedule a time.

This is such a sweet initiative, and I love that Texas is leaning into the fall vibes with shelter pets. The $40 adoption fee for dogs is honestly a steal when you consider they come spayed, neutered, and vaccinated — that's a lot of peace of mind for a new pet parent. Speaking of getting ready for a new furry friend, I've been using the scroll test at to make sure my mouse isn't acting up while I browse all those adoptable pet listings online. Nothing worse than a janky scroll wheel when you're trying to zoom through photos of cute pups! Hope these animals find their cozy forever homes this season.

Shelter pets truly deserve a second chance, and it's wonderful to see organizations encouraging more people to adopt. I keep handwritten notes about pet care and training, and making handwritten pet care records searchable helps me stay organized and track important milestones.
