Clear the Shelters Day is This Saturday!

August 13, 2018

National Clear the Shelters day is Saturday, August 18. All adoption fees will be waived on this special day. Adoptions include spay/neuter, vaccines and microchip. The shelter will open 30 minutes early at 11am and will remain open until 5pm.

Clear the Shelters is the largest single-day adoption event in the country. The day is all about finding homes for shelter pets nationwide - as well as bringing awareness to shelter overcrowding.

There are over 650 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens currently at Montgomery County Animal Shelter (MCAS) who all need loving homes. MCAS is over capacity and we hope to see a significant number of adoptions. Last year, 200 pets were adopted during the event. This year, our goal is 250 adoptions!

***Please note that not all of the available pets are on facebook, so come see for yourself! Or search by breed, sex and size at petharbor.com***

CAN’T ADOPT? HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP:
1.) Share our facebook posts leading up to the event on your timeline and any online groups you belong to

2.) Indicate you are “interested” in the official event.

3.) Click here to download and print the official MCAS Clear the Shelters poster and flyer and then distribute those anywhere you can – church, apartment complexes, gym, etc.

Clear the Shelters is a day to come together as a community and show your support for the homeless pets in Montgomery County. If you are considering adoption, please visit us on August 18. We are asking local residents to adopt on Clear the Shelters day and help us reach our goal of 250 adoptions.

Clear the Shelters is an initiative by NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations, Cat's Pride® Cat Litter, and Hill’s Pet Nutrition along with community partners such as Telemundo Houston, 104.1 KRBE, Crime Stoppers of Houston, Houston PetSet, KPRC2 / Click2Houston, MEGA 101 FM - Houston, and Greensheet Media.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the Clear the Shelters event, there will be no animal intakes. If you have to surrender your pet or you have found a stray, please wait until Sunday, August 19.
