December 8, 2009 - MCAS Announces Home for the Holidays
Montgomery County Animal Shelter would like all animals to have a warm and blessed holiday, surrounded by a loving family. A Dog Named Christmas is a 2009 American television film that debuted on CBS as a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie on November 29, 2009. In association with Hallmark, over 2,000 shelters across the nation signed up to promote “Foster a Lonely Pet” during the holiday season. Click here for more.
December 7, 2009 - MCAS Announces 1st Annual Holiday Puppy Special

November 13, 2009 - Justice of the Peace James Metts Rallies to Help Animals in Need
What happens when a compassionate Judge puts the gavel to the community to help animals in need? People rally, businesses rally and the local government rallies to help Montgomery County Animal Shelter feed their animals! September 22, 2009 - HSMC Announces Closing and MCAS Announces Record Adoptions
Last week, HSMC severed their Animal Control contract with the county and re-purposed itself as a low cost Spay/Neuter clinic. The news release lead to confusion, rumors and misinformation, which resulted in hundreds of people lining up at MCAS on Saturday to adopt “free” animals. Click here for more

June 11, 2009 - Montgomery County Animal Shelter Welcomes New Veterinarian Shelter Director
Montgomery County Animal Shelter ("MCAS") welcomes Dr. Patricia Ryan, DVM as new shelter director. In this role, she will oversee shelter operations, including veterinary services, kennel care, and animal control. The staff and volunteers are excited to have Dr. Ryan on board, as they foresee positive changes to shelter operations, and look forward to keeping animals healthy and saving more animals' lives. February 19, 2009 - Foster Families Needed to Support Montgomery County Animal Shelter "No Kill" efforts
Although many professionals and volunteers are improving the environment and adoption rates at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter (MCAS), the best stay for an animal at MCAS is a short stay. The sooner an animal can be moved out of the shelter, the better its chances of staying healthy and adapting quickly to a new life. Ideally, the new home is a permanent one, but a temporary foster home will do. Click here for more
