The adoption fee includes the costs for spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, de-worming, and micro-chipping. In addition, adult dogs have been tested for heartworms and cats have been given a feline leukemia test. The fee is the same for cats, kittens, dogs or puppies whether male or female. Occasionally, the shelter will reduce the price of a specific animal for a variety of reasons or offer a discount for those wishing to adopt multiple pets.

Adoption Application: All adopters must complete an adoption application. The application includes basic contact information, as well as, information that will help determine if the adopter will be a good pet owner. All adoption applications will be reviewed by an adoption coordinator before being accepted. An adoption application can be downloaded here. You may print, fill out and then bring the application to the shelter when you are ready to adopt. Sorry, no faxed or mailed applications will be accepted.

Adoption - Making it Official:  Animals that have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated can be adopted. Adopters must complete an Application, complete the interview, sign the Adoption Contract and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption process.  We recommend bringing the animal to your personal veterinarian within 7 days of adoption.  If the pet exhibits medical concerns during this period, the adopter can bring the animal to the shelter for examination and treatment by the veterinary staff within the first 10 days following the adoption. The animal may be exchanged or returned for a refund within 7 days after the Adoption contract is finalized.  The original receipt must be provided for all returns. Allow 4 to 6 weeks to receive a refund. Please click here for FAQs concerning adoptions.

Not Ready to Adopt? If you are unable to make a permanent commitment to an animal, but want to open your heart and home to a dog or cat on a temporary basis, you may qualify for our Foster Program. Please click here for FAQs concerning fostering.
