Diamonds in the Ruff

For some dogs, the road to adoption can be "ruff." That's why our Diamonds, dogs that have been at the shelter for over 60 days, are being offered for adoption at special prices.

Sometimes animals remain in the shelter for months and months for no good reason.  We have found that once these animals are placed in homes, they are the most loyal and loving animals.  They know you have rescued them and they are so grateful. Their bio information is provided by our volunteers, so MCAS cannot vouch for any of the details. Please come to the shelter and print a picture of the animal that interests you.

Additionally, there is always a reduced fee for long term residents and senior animals.  There is always a reduced fee if taking more than one animal.  Senior animals for senior people (over 65) are free.

MARGIE A077460

Margie is a very sweet girl when it comes to people— though she’s not too keen when other dogs get in her face, but she's working on putting up with that! You know how hard it can be to meet new friends, so we understand and know she is making progress.

Practice includes all sorts of fun stuff like romping, playing and socializing with other dogs. Margie is very likely housetrained as her kennel is always clean and she goes immediately when taken outside. This well-mannered girl has never had accident at an offsite adoption or in the car. Soon Margie will be introduced to some nice cats to see how she gets along with them. With such a sweet and loving demeanor, we hope she will be a great friend to cats. Ask us for information on that.

Margie is spayed and up-to-date on her shots and is just waiting for a wonderful forever home where she can get the love and affection all dogs deserve. She will love you forever, too!

Please call Linda at 281-298-4661 if you have any questions about Margie. Or you can contact her foster dad, Larry @larry_alton@yahoo.com.

JEWEL A127726

Jewel’s heritage is not known for sure but she looks much like a Black Norwegian Elkhound. Jewel is an absolute love at offsite adoptions, volunteers call her “the best”, and given her behavior she is believed to be housebroken. She is friendly to people and dogs, alike. Jewel is a strong girl and does need leash work. But after a walk and potty, she behaves pretty well on the leash. You can take Jewel out for a walk and see how the two of you get along!

Please contact Linda at 281-298-4661.

SARAH A129341

Sarah is a young dog, female, spayed and heartworm positive.  She is going thru treatment at the shelter starting tomorrow.  She is fantastic with all dogs, very submissive, very good with cats.  She is wonderful with people once she knows them but is initially fearful and shy.  Loves to cuddle and sit in your lap.  Crate trained, will now go into crate on command with no hesitation.  Housebroken. Does not bark except when she sees someone she doesn't know.

Sarah is with a foster - Larry Alton larry_alton@yahoo.com.  Please email him to visit/inquire about lovely Lucy

PRINCE LANCE A109197

Prince of the Shelter

  • Neutered
  • Vetted, heartworm negative
  • Loves older kids, other dogs, no cats
  • Spent 2 weeks in Bed, Bath & Biscuit training facility

Puppies shoudln't have to grow up in a shelter but Prince Lance did. Arrving as a 3 month old pup, Lance is now 1 year old. He is so playful, happy and full of life that it's hard to believe he has lived at the shelter since April 17, 2009!

Lance is a big, sweet boy (70 lbs) and may get bigger! He needs lots of exercise and would be perfect for a runner or someone with acreage. He needs to be an inside dog because he loves people too much! Lance needs other dogs to play with and enjoys the dog pak. No yound children, as he just too big for them.

Please contact Linda at 281-298-4661 for more information on Lance.

JOEY A128500

Joey has such a unique coat—bluish grey color on top of tan. Joey is still very young and may get a bit bigger. He came in as a pup and is now about 7 months old. Joey loves water and is a bundle of energy that would love to go walking or jogging with you.

Please contact Linda at 281-298-4661.

BILLY A124601

Billy is sweet and loving, and has never met a stranger. He is great with all other dogs big and small. He’s housetrained (needs to be crated at night or when alone) and crate trained. Billy loves water, and will sometimes play fetch. He loves to chew and needs bones, but as long as he has his own toys, he will leave yours alone. He has been in a home with a 3 year old and a 10 month old and is amazing with children. When inside he is quiet and does not get rowdy, and knows not to get on furniture. He will usually find a spot on the tile and take a nap. He knows sit, walks well on the leash, and rides well in the car.

CHAMP A126321

Champ is a dashing young fellow full of life and love! Very photogenic, (he must know he’s good
looking!), Champ will sit still for photos, but is also energetic enough for extended bouts of play.
Champ is house trained and given his exuberance for running, will need practice walking on a leash.
But the way Champ sees it, he’s giving you a good reason to get out and enjoy the great outdoors!
Friendly and loving, Champ has “family dog” written all over him.

This sweetie is neutered, up-to-date on his shots and has tested positive for heartworms. Luckily,
heartworms are very treatable and Champ can get started on his treatment as soon as you take him
home. Shelter life is too stressful for treatment so he needs a nice quite environment to undergo
treatment. (Treatment is included in your adoption fee, ask for details.) Have a heart and take this
“champion” home today!

Please contact Linda at 281-298-4661.

COWGIRL A132744

In her picture, Cowgirl thought she'd take a bit of a rest. Just look how really laid-back this sweetheart is! This beautiful cattle dog is calm and walks very well on a leash - and will never be a bother. All she wants is a new home. Cowgirl was found as a stray, but judging by her demeanor she was once a great pet—and will be again! Cowgirl is heartworm negative.

Please call Linda at 281-298-4661.

DANCER A123687

Dancer has been at the shelter since November 2010.

She went to ISO I believe almost immediatley after coming to shelter. Again, the dreaded skin issues. Very friendly and just full of energy. Also loves attention. Just craves it. And also is in need of someone who will train her. Dancer is a smaller dog and weighs about 30 pounds. It's not fair that this beauty has been living in a cage for 9 months.

Please call Linda at 281-298-4661 if you have any questions about King.

CASSIE A131029

Cassie is such a gentle girl, full of life and love. She’s a total sweetheart that always has a doggie smile on her face. She is not too hyper, but will still enjoy long walks and visits to the dog park. She does, however, love to chase cats! Cassie is housetrained. Cassie has had two months of heartworm preventative, too. Give this pretty girl a chance to be a part of your family!
